Registered Nurse - RN

As a Registered Nurse at Northern Lakes Senior Living, your primary responsibilities include conducting health assessments, coordinating care plans, ensuring accurate medication administration, and overall supervising healthcare services for our assisted living and memory care residents. This role involves collaborating with both internal and external health providers to fulfill the unique needs of each resident, ensuring they receive the best possible care.

To qualify as a Registered Nurse at Northern Lakes Senior Living, you'll need a current Minnesota RN License or the ability to obtain one before your start date. Additionally, you'll need to hold an AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR for Professional Rescuers certification. Experience in a patient support role, whether as an LPN or RN, is highly preferred, along with proficient communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.

Registered Nurses at Northern Lakes Senior Living typically work day shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with every third weekend included in the rotation. This schedule allows for a consistent routine while also providing the opportunity to engage deeply with residents and their families.

To effectively prioritize tasks, I assess each resident's immediate needs based on their health status, medication schedules, and any urgent requests. I believe in creating a structured approach, ensuring the most critical tasks are addressed first while maintaining open communication with my team and residents.

I have hands-on experience using electronic charting systems, which I find essential for maintaining accurate resident records. I'm comfortable navigating these systems to document assessments, update care plans, and communicate with the healthcare team effectively, ensuring high standards of care.

I approach difficult conversations with empathy and clear communication. I listen actively to their concerns, ensure they feel heard, and provide reassurances where I can. It's important to provide honest information while also being supportive and compassionate during these discussions.

When managing medication administration, I follow the six rights of medication administration—right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time, and right documentation. This systematic approach minimizes the risk of errors and ensures residents receive their medications safely.

If I noticed a decline in a resident's health, I would immediately conduct a thorough assessment and document my findings. I would then notify the Director of Health Services and coordinate with the healthcare team to adapt the care plan or seek additional medical advice, ensuring swift action is taken.
