Full-time Salary Position starting at $52k DOE plus benefits.Located in Taos, NM. Working out of El Monte Sagrado.

Job Purpose: The Landscaping Manager at El Monte Sagrado works under the direction of the Corporate Director of Landscaping Services to oversee and maintain the landscaping and grounds of the property. This role ensures that the resort's natural beauty and outdoor spaces are preserved and enhanced, creating a welcoming and inspirational environment for guests. The Landscaping Manager will implement sustainable landscaping practices, lead the landscaping team, and ensure the property aligns with the artistic, cultural, and environmental values of Taos and Northern New Mexico.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain horticultural best practices for Southwestern landscapes, including xeriscaping and sustainable design.
  • Oversee daily maintenance of the resort grounds, including planting, irrigation, tree care, trimming, and general upkeep.
  • Develop and execute seasonal landscaping strategies to enhance the property's visual appeal and safety.
  • Supervise and train landscaping staff, conducting regular meetings to communicate expectations, strategies, and goals.
  • Provide training in proper equipment usage, landscaping techniques, and workplace safety to maintain compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee and coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed efficiently with minimal disruption to guest experiences.
  • Monitor and manage applications of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides, ensuring environmentally responsible practices.
  • Maintain accurate reports and records related to maintenance activities, purchasing transactions, personnel actions, and invoices.
  • Utilize strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to effectively manage all landscaping operations.
  • Ensure a high level of guest experience and customer service, maintaining an aesthetically pleasing and safe outdoor environment.
  • Take initiative to independently complete tasks, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Respond to landscaping emergencies outside of normal working hours as needed.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, based on the needs of the resort.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), including power sprayers, blowers, and air compressors.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolds and perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments with exposure to inclement weather and varying temperatures.
  • Experience: 2-5 years in landscaping, grounds management, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Landscaping, Environmental Science, or a related field.
