Clinical Dietitian III

TITLE: Clinical Dietitian III  DUTIES: Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients with complex medical conditions in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. Coordinate clinical responsibilities to distribute workload among team members. Coordinate nutritional aspects of patient's care with physicians and health care personnel. Utilize the Nutrition Care Process to document in the medical record. Serve as a MNT resource professional for Level I and II dietitians and assume some responsibility for the training and development of the professional clinical dietetics staff. Serve on committees in the Food and Nutrition Department and on hospital-wide or system-wide committees. May participate in research and data collection pertaining to job assignment. Utilize effective time management in organizing work load, prioritizing and accomplishing tasks. Assist with and conduct quality improvement activities as well as performance improvement monitoring and provides feedback to dietitians and other staff. Participate in performance evaluation of co-workers. Coordinate clinical responsibilities to ensure patient care; redistributes clinical workload among team members as needed. Perform performance appraisals of dietitians at Level I and II and precepts and evaluates interns independently. Confirm diet order, assess appropriateness, implement, manage or adjust diet prescription for oral and/or enteral/parenteral nutrition; may write diet prescription and document changes in the medical record. Develop and implement nutrition care plans, monitor progress as appropriate for patients medical condition. Coordinate appropriate implementation of cultural, religious, ethnic preferences or medical requirements with FNS. Possess and utilize accurate knowledge of food safety and sanitation.  LOCATION: Emory Healthcare, Inc., 6325 Hospital Parkway, Johns Creek, GA 30097  REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Science or related field of study and three (3) years of experience as a Dietitian in a clinical setting with a specialty certification from an approved nutrition related area.  In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in stated fields and three (3) years of stated experience, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Science or related field of study and one (1) year of experience as a Dietitian in a clinical setting.  SPECIAL SKILLS:     Also requires experience in the following:
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration;
  • Maintains a specialty certification from an approved nutrition related area OR has a Master's degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Science or related field of study;
  • Licensed as a Dietitian in the state of Georgia;
  • Competency in adult and geriatric nutrition; and
  • Diet management software.
