Job Description

The Legal Counsel – Gaming Compliance will be responsible for ensuring that the company operates according to the highest ethical, legal, and compliance standards. The Legal Counsel role will provide legal support and advice across various departments and Evolution entities. This position will form part of the North American legal and compliance team.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Offer legal advice and guidance on gaming laws, regulations, and compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions for a wide-variety of products, including live-dealer operations, slots and RNG, sweepstakes, and social casino.
  • Ensure the company's products and services comply with local, national, and international gaming regulations, including licensing requirements, advertising standards, and data protection laws.
  • Oversee the process for obtaining and maintaining gaming licenses in various jurisdictions, including preparation of submissions and documentation to regulators.
  • Represent the company at regulatory/board meetings and other regulatory legal proceedings.
  • Stay current on legal and regulatory changes in the gaming and iGaming industries, particularly regarding live-dealer services, and recommend updates to company practices.
  • Advise on corporate governance matters, ensuring that the company’s practices align with legal and ethical standards in the gaming industry.
  • Work closely with other departments, including product development, marketing, and customer support, to ensure legal and regulatory compliance is integrated across the business.
  • Act as the general contact for day-to-day contractual reviews, negotiations, and drafting including: Non-Disclosure Agreements/Confidentiality Agreements, Software licenses, Live Casino Agreements, and Data Processing Agreements.
  • Use standard contract templates to prepare/agree to other agreements, amendments and extensions (e.g. Service Terms and Conditions, subcontracts, consultancy, agency, and reseller agreements)
  • Present legal issues to management together with analysis, options, and recommendations.
  • Cooperate with external legal counsel on crucial issues of the company, as well as to monitor their activities, including when interests of the company are represented in court
  • Any other ad-hoc duties that may be required.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • 3+ years of gaming law experience, preferably in a law firm or as a gaming regulator.
  • Active bar admission/good standing in New Jersey and/or Pennsylvania.
  • Experience with Canadian transactions or U.S.-Canadian border transactions a plus. 
  • Good knowledge of corporate and commercial law; intellectual property law and data protection law considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperate with different teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the capacity of identifying all risks and proactively choosing the best solutions.
