About the IS Operational Experience Portfolio

Our software business systems are built to provide efficiency and functionality to our branch around the world, allowing Expeditors to provide outstanding customer service and competitive rates. Our internal and external systems are an integrated suite of collaborative supply chain software applications that are designed to assist our operations teams and customers in managing international and domestic shipping challenges. This position is a part of our Cartage team.  This team focuses on building and sustaining our proprietary web application which supports short haul truck dispatches that are the first and final portions of a transportation transaction.  This position will largely be focused on front end development although the desired candidate will be expected to have full stack technical skills.

What you will be doing:

  • Playing a key role on a collaborative project team, responsible for the design and production of mission critical, enterprise-scale business systems
  • Translating requirements into system design specifications and the implementation of systems throughout the entire software development life cycle
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the logistics business domain
  • Maintaining an awareness of evolving technologies in use by other teams at Expeditors and in the technology industry as a whole
  • Influence the design and technical direction of the system

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study, or equivalent experience
  • Robust Full Stack (front end and back end) development experience
  • Robust Java coding abilities
  • At least 5 years in a software development role in a team environment
  • Experience with web development
  • Experience with Angular, Bootstrap and/or similar front end frameworks
  • Spring, Spring Boot, and dependency injection
  • Experience with IntelliJ, Maven, Github, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with:
    • Object oriented analysis and design
    • Relational database concepts and SQL
    • RESTful API's
  • Customer service-oriented attitude and great time-management skills
  • Ability to communicate across IT and Business roles
  • Experience mentoring and/or coaching others in a team environment

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing in and provisioning within a Cloud infrastructure
  • Agile/SAFe leadership experience including continuous improvement of team processes
  • Web-based and service-based architectures and deployment paradigms
  • Experience with Data Fabric or Data Lake repositories and integrations
  • Operating systems including Linux, preferable RHEL8
  • Experience with Event Driven Architecture, Domain Driven Design, CQRS, Kafka

Additional Information

Expected base salary:  $110,000 to $175,000
