Position

We are seeking an experienced FP&A professional to join our finance team, in a hybrid role based out of Toronto. This role will lead budgeting and forecasting, own financial modeling and financial planning & analysis, and impact strategic decision-making as the company continues to scale. The role will be a key business partner to senior leadership (working with the CFO/CEO/COO) providing financial insights that drive strategic initiatives, while improving processes to enhance financial visibility and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial modeling, experience working at a software company, a strong understanding of SaaS metrics, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Financial Modeling and Forecasting: Develop and maintain complex financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning; create scenario analyses to evaluate financial impact of strategic decisions. 
  • Budgeting and Planning: Lead the annual budgeting process and monthly re-forecasting efforts; collaborate with department heads to align budgets with operational plans. 
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts; prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs to management.
  • SaaS Metrics Tracking: Monitor key SaaS metrics like MRR, ARR, churn rates, CAC, and LTV; provide insights into customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth. 
  • Strategic Business Support: Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business drivers; support pricing strategy development and assess new product viability.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to financial planning processes; automate reporting to increase efficiency and accuracy; identify opportunities for system implementations for efficiencies, and optimizing existing systems. 
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct financial analyses to support special projects and initiatives; evaluate potential M&A opportunities from a financial perspective. 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CPA, MBA or CFA is a plus
  • Experience: A total of about 5-10 years of FP&A experience, with at least 2 years in a SaaS/Software company
  • SaaS Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of SaaS business models, metrics and KPIs; experience analyzing subscription revenue and customer lifecycle metrics
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling; experience with financial planning software and ERP systems
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex financial data; detail-oriented with high accuracy in financial information
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders; strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines; self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic fast-paced environment; flexibility to adapt to new challenges and additional responsibilities
  • Experience with M&A, and integrations of acquisitions is an asset
  • Executive presence, relationship building skills, stakeholder management skills and strong decision-making skills
  • Open to travel (approx. 10%)
