MPS, a division of Macmillan Publishers, a leading US publisher of Trade and Academic titles, has a job opening for a Supervisor, Reconciliations in our Gordonsville facility. MPS provides back office support, warehousing, and, fulfillment for Macmillan US, and is their primary distribution facility for North America.

Purpose of the Role:

The Reconciliations Supervisor is responsible for managing the Reconciliations employees; ensuring departmental goals are achieved; and all credit policies and procedures and company policies and procedures are adhered to.

Key responsibilities/tasks:

  • Supervises the department staff by providing guidance and direction in reconciling their accounts.
  • Reviews reconciliations with department employees offering insight/suggestions and ensuring accuracy.
  • Summarizes reconciliation and submits recommendations/comments to Key Accounts/Reconciliations Manager on how to handle a specific situation or account.
  • Submits routine updates on major accounts to Key Accounts/Reconciliations Manager.
  • Develops and maintains employees by suggesting programs for training and professional development, to train and motivate employees for increased effectiveness.
  • Completes all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion to include absenteeism, performance evaluations, and operating supplies.
  • Reviews operating goals and standards on a daily basis and monitors achievement.
  • Enforces established safety, health, and housekeeping policies and procedures in order to minimize injuries, loss of production time, and damage.
  • Works within operational budget. Assists in developing the budget when required.
  • Conforms to all company policies and procedures (Employee Handbook) and complies with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.

Skills/experience required:

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual must be able to interact well with people.

Individual needs to have a strong aptitude for mathematical processes, as well as, the ability to think problems through. Ability to; solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer skills to include Microsoft (Word, Excel and Access), Adobe, Google and general internet use. Use of calculator, photocopy machine, fax machine and scanner.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervising 3 - 7 people. Ensures that the department employees are carrying out policy and procedures to meet department goals. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
