Job Description

If you’re a fan of McDonald’s, not just for our fries or hash browns, but for our groundbreaking, culture-led brand campaigns, you likely took notice of our Chicken Big Mac Twitch series with the biggest streamer in the world, Kai Cenat, or the return of the McRib to usher in the holiday season. If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “Wow, I would love to be a part of the team crafting this work and showing up on social in never-been-done-before ways,” this is the job for you.  

In this role, you not only get to develop social-forward campaigns for the biggest brand in culture, but you also get to say you’re one of the people running the McDonald’s social account. Yes, that means you will get to read 675 comments about the snack wraps every single day, but it also means you’ll craft social strategies and content that compel our fans to share in their DMs, talk about in their group chats and get copied by the industry.  

Specifically, we’re looking for someone to lead the charge on social strategy for some of our biggest campaigns and programs. Someone who knows social and gets the modern, diverse customer -- not only how they consume social content but also what’s important to them. Someone who isn’t just familiar with these cultural nuances but is ready to translate that knowledge into fresh thinking that elevates our social strategy and pushes the brand towards groundbreaking ideas that resonate with every audience segment. 

Every day, you will serve as a creative catalyst for tactics that inspire brand love, promote inclusion and elevate the role of McDonald’s in culture, and get to partner with award-winning creative and social agency teams to produce breakthrough, best-in-class creative ideas.

Key Responsibilities 

  • You will oversee the social strategy and creative for some of our most important campaigns, spanning multi-cultural, digital and value-oriented initiatives. 
  • Your main responsibilities will be: 
  • Serve as the social expert within our campaign IAT 
  • Craft breakthrough social strategy and content for our PR-led activations and campaigns with an acute eye for cultural nuances  
  • Advocate for creative excellence and courageously push our cross-functional team to innovate across new platforms, tap into new subcultures and be first to market  
  • Work cross-functionally with creative agencies to craft fan-fueled creative platforms and adaptations for multicultural audiences  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners across Brand & Content, Communications, Digital and Consumer Insights to align tactics to program and business goals 
  • Lead the charge on the ongoing measurement of social’s business impact and evaluation of social engagement for future application

The expected salary range for this role is $98,140-$125,130 per year

  • You have experience in multicultural marketing
  • You have a gut instinct on what’s shareworthy
  • You can interpret data into meaningful insights
  • You care about the difference between having something to say and having to say something 
  • You have at least one of these “plus” : 
    • Sprinklr and Talkwalker expertise is a plus 
    • Paid & Earned media experience is a plus 
    • Marketing for brands is a plus  
    • Working with agencies is a plus  
    • Speaking a second language is a plus 
    • Content creation is a plus   

Additional Information

Benefits eligible: This position offers health and welfare benefits, a 401(k) plan, adoption assistance program, educational assistance program, flexible ways of working, and time off policies (including sick leave, parental leave, and vacation/PTO). Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment. 

Bonus eligible: This position is eligible for a bonus, calculated based on individual and company performance.

Long term Incentive eligible: This position is eligible for stock or other equity grants pursuant to McDonald’s long-term incentive plan.
