Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

Our Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) portfolio is a powerhouse collection of consumer-first brands, supported by media industry leaders, Comcast, NBCUniversal and Sky. When you join our team, you’ll work across our dynamic portfolio including Peacock, NOW, Fandango, SkyShowtime, Showmax, and TV Everywhere, powering streaming across more than 70 countries globally. The Senior Director of Product, Content Experience will lead an international product team of 4-5 people focused on creating an innovative, best-in-class viewing experience that starts from the time a Peacock subscriber hits play to when their show or movie ends and they are looking for the next great thing to watch. You’ll work on projects that are fast-paced and challenging, while defining what the future of streaming looks like for consumers. This will include how we innovate with live sports on Peacock, like layering in real-time data and leveraging Gen AI inputs to advance the viewing experience. Your team will also tackle video player controls and in-player discovery as you develop a strategy for helping consumers seamlessly navigate the shows and movies they are watching. You’ll be tasked with defining what comes next. How can we evolve the experience of watching and interacting with shows, movies, characters and sports we love?  

You will own the vision, strategy, planning, and execution of the Content Experience roadmap, which will have impacts across our international portfolio of streaming experiences.  

The ideal candidate will leverage strong organizational skills and deep subject matter expertise in VOD + live streaming experience to partner with stakeholders across editorial, production ops, marketing, engineering + device teams to drive our product forward.  

This is an opportunity to be part of an ambitious initiative to shape the future of TV and will require someone who can juggle creative and analytical responsibilities, from strategy definition and creative solutioning to experimentation and technical development. 
 
In this role, you will:  

  • Build a strategic vision, roadmap, and experimentation strategy to deliver new vide player experiences and capabilities across platforms 

  • Manage the user journey from the time they hit play on a piece of video through to their next watch 

  • Manage, mentor and motivate an international group of product managers in the content experience area 

  • Work across multiple time zones (Lisbon to London to LA) to align with key stakeholders and move the Content Experience vision forward 

  • Partner with the Personalization team that will build 1-to-1 personalized experiences catered to users tastes and preferences  

  • Collaborate with other Sr. leaders in product, design, data and strategy to develop holistic points of view and confidently make product decisions  

  • Partner with project management and technology teams in the US and Europe and influence multi-year product roadmaps and agile priorities  

  • Deeply understand business considerations, competitive landscape, and best practices to drive optimal video player experience   

  • Create and deliver winning executive presentations that explain product vision, features and roadmaps and manage senior stakeholder expectations 

  • Help build a product culture at Peacock and inspire the next generation of product leaders 

Qualifications

What you have:  

  • Experience building features for Live TV/Streaming products 

  • Experience building features for video players 

  • Experience building for multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Amazon, Roku, Apple) and domains (TV, Movies, Sports, News, Kids) 

  • An ability to lead and inspire alignment to a shared vision and outcome  

  • Strong analytical skills and a hypotheses-driven approach to problem solving 

  • A collaborative spirit and willingness to share product responsibilities  

  • Passion for creating innovative and engaging consumer products, with the persistence to iterate 

  • Evidence of creative strategic thinking, empathy for the user and curiosity to identify their needs 

  • Vision to anticipate evolving consumption trends in the entertainment, sports and news verticals 

  • Distinguished verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills  

  • Flexibility to quickly adapt to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines  

  • Technical fluency to know when to challenge developers and ask pertinent questions  

  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously with tight schedules 

  • Enthusiasm to be positive, confident and energetic 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in a relevant field 

  • 8+ years of experience of overall product management experience 

  • 2+ years of people management experience 

  • 2+ years working on a Live TV/Video Streaming app 

  • Consumer-centric view with a proven track-record of developing and acting on customer insights 

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment 

  • Experience with A/B testing, hypothesis validation and user testing 

  • Experience building for multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Amazon, Roku, Apple) and domains (TV, Movies, Sports, News, Kids) 

  • Fluency with project management tools such as Jira, as well as analytics software 

  • Ability and self-motivation to work effectively offsite and with remote, global, multi-lingual teams

Salary range: $195,000 - $235,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible).
