Northrop Grumman Advanced Weapons Business Unit (AWBU) has an opening for an Embedded Software Manager 3, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will lead the AWBU Software, Simulation, and Operational Analysis Engineering Department and will report to the AW Engineering Director. The department consists of a group of 7 managers with 100+ engineers
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Northridge, CA.
A successful candidate will have the qualities and essential functional expertise to:
Lead software deliverables from proposal through delivery & sustainment across the Advanced Weapons Business Unit
Ensure deliverables meet technical quality, cost & schedule objectives.
Develop plans to meet quality, cost & schedule objectives for all software deliverables.
Manage the software staffing profile for a software team of 100 + Software engineers and Modeling & Simulation engineers.
Establish and implement Agile development techniques and metrics to help manage team progress and quality throughout the life cycle.
Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.
Provides ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support the AW business unit for the software development and the agile process i.e. Jira, Confluence, etc.
Own and lead improvements across employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention of top talent
Mentor, develop, and train team members.
Interface with all levels of leadership to maintain and exceed health and performance for all programs.
Excellent communication (written, oral, and presentation) and engagement skills.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related field with 8 years’ Computer Engineering or Software Engineering experience, or Master’s with 6 years Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or PhD with 4 years Computer Engineering or Software Engineering experience.
Prior experience in leading a software team of 50+.
Experience with one or more Software languages/technologies: C/C++, Java, Python, C#.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
1+ years of configuration management best practices and scheduling.
1+ years of experience with one or more of the following:
Knowledge in principles of Model Based Engineering (MBE)
Working in an Agile team
Designing software using UML
Experience in the management and integration of software product lines
Working knowledge of Earn Value, with the ability to build milestone schedules for execution purposes.
Experience working closely with customer counterparts, in both a development and production capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with leading incorporation of DevOps.
Prior experience incorporating modern software technologies & process into a legacy platform.
Experience within the aerospace/defense industry
Experience managing overhead budgets for software organization.
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities.
Experience as a CAM
Knowledge of missile GN&C SW
Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
Knowledge of cost estimation
Experience developing or debugging operating system software targeted for an embedded system.
