The Industrial Engineer III is focused on eliminating wastefulness in production processes, and in developing ways to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency through the effective use of workers, machines, materials, and space information.
The Industrial Engineer III will use advanced knowledge of industrial/manufacturing engineering fundamentals and leverage a strong understanding of Lean programs to drive continuous improvements projects.
This individual will work closely with the Manufacturing, Quality, Production, and other cross functional teams.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Utilizes Continuous Improvement tools to identify opportunities and lead process improvement projects designed toward optimizing operational costs and achieving maximum utilization of manpower, equipment, production space, and investment dollars.
• Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, work instructions, and other information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services.
• Drive efforts to analyze systems and determine how to manufacture parts or products with maximum efficiency and quality, with minimal supervision.
• Work independently with manufacturing, quality, and R&D engineers to identify equipment and process improvement opportunities, and improvements in layout of workspaces.
• Develop detailed work plans and strategies for projects in collaboration with other cross functional teams.
• Collaborate and/or help in the development of standard operating procedures
• Drive Time Study Analysis and identification of Value / Non-Value-added activities during these studies and subsequent presentation of findings, planning, and implementation of improvement plans.
• Mentor and Train Industrial Engineers, help advance appropriate skill sets and understanding of Lean Manufacturing Concepts and Techniques.
• Develop, Support and be able to train Penumbra Employees on programs that support Lean Manufacturing Implementation.
• Ensures facility efficiency and workplace safety, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
• Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Understands relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adheres to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.
• Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with 3+ years of experience in the medical device or related industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industry experience desired.
• 3+ years of experience Continuous Improvement experience in a medical device industry role desired
• Comprehensive understanding and knowledge manufacturing processes and clean room practice.
• Demonstrate potential to design, analyze and implement industrial engineering techniques.
• Creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills required.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to diverse audiences; leadership skills desired.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficiency with MS office tools (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and MS Project), AutoCAD, and SAP
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required with ability to multitask and establish priorities on assignments.
Working Conditions

• Willingness and ability to work on site.
• May have business travel from 0% - 10%
• Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens
• Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to move between buildings and floors.
• Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day.
• Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets.
• Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed.
• Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.
Starting Base Salary Is: $91,000 to $127,000

Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
