Data Science Internship

This internship at PrizePicks offers students the opportunity to work with the data science team on complex sports modeling problems, contributing to model development while researching innovative approaches to fantasy sports challenges. Ideal candidates have a strong technical background in computer science, statistics, or related fields, with proficiency in Python and SQL, and a passion for sports analytics. Standout applicants will have experience with lower-level programming languages, machine learning algorithm development, and demonstrated success in open-source projects or data science competitions.

What you'll do:

  • Learn from the PrizePicks data science team on how we approach the most difficult sports modeling problems.
  • Contribute to model development, iteration, and data collection.
  • Research new initiatives and model unique approaches to problems in fantasy sports.

What you have:

  • Demonstrable history of projects that are either sports-focused or are related to building novel approaches to machine learning.
  • Strong technical or math/statistics background. Computer science, statistics, math, physics, economics, etc. major.
  • Strong coding skills - Python, SQL.
  • Interest in sports and fantasy sports markets.

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience with lower-level programming languages - Rust, Java, C++.
  • Demonstrable background/coursework building machine learning algorithms from scratch.
  • Success in open-source projects e.g. Big Data Bowl, Kaggle, school research labs.
