Job Description

Title:  Associate Controls Engineer

Position Summary:

This position performs engineering work related to research, designing, and development of new products and interfacing the control systems related to Genset operation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the design of control system platforms
  • Support R&D developments and customized deployments
  • Support the design interfaces between various proprietary hardware (ECU’s, Gen control panels, PLC’s, HMI’s)
  • Support the development of special customer applications with MTU controls system
  • Support the design controls system for R&D programs
  • Support the development of interfaces of electrical and mechanical applications and systems with the MTU controls system
  • Work directly with controls and governor manufacturers to improve functionality and mitigate issues
  • Validate, and maintain MTU control systems
  • Supports the _____ for moderately complex hardware components.
  • Assist all areas of company with controls related issues
  • Promotes a compliance culture in area of responsibility, and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; or 4 years of controls engineering experience
  • Ability to travel to customer and manufactures sites

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dependable, Creative, Versatile, Flexible and Team Orientated
  • Good programming skills for PLC programming, function block, structure text, scripted languages,
  • Basic knowledge of device communication (TCP-IP, Modbus and CANbus)
  • Basic power systems knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of paralleling system management andpower electronics
  • Good ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Good ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, line drawings and ladder diagrams
  • Good organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Good oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office productivity tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of MTU products, systems and processes
