To realize this vision, we’re seeking a Lead Application Engineer (Full-Stack) with a passion for building exceptional products. You’ll take ownership of our web app, iterating on features, refining the user experience, and using data-driven insights to ensure a seamless and engaging user journey. Ultimately, you’ll lay the groundwork for and lead our future mobile app development.

About the Role
This is a high-impact, foundational role where you’ll have the autonomy to shape Rubicon’s application development and lead it to new heights. We’re looking for an app assassin—someone with a proven track record of building, deploying, and maintaining performant, high-quality web apps. Your focus will be on creating a seamless, scalable product that delivers exceptional value to users while analyzing usage data to guide improvements and align with marketing and growth efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end development of Rubicon’s web app, iterating based on user feedback and usage data insights to refine the UX.

  • Use analytics tools to identify drop-off points, improve user flows, and collaborate with marketing to drive retention and growth.

  • Lead the expansion of the app’s features, scope, and functionality, driving innovation and growth.

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain performant, scalable, and secure web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React).

  • Collaborate with the product and design teams to align technical execution with user needs and business goals.

  • Build seamless authentication flows and other critical app functionalities.

  • Establish the technical foundation for future iOS and mobile app development.

  • Ensure integration with backend services, working closely with other engineers to deliver a cohesive product.

  • Champion Rubicon’s mission and bring a user-first mindset to every decision.

What We’re Looking For

  • High-level proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, etc.).

  • Proven experience developing, deploying, and maintaining web apps in production.

  • Deep understanding of authentication flows, responsive design, and frontend optimization.

  • Familiarity with backend services and APIs, and comfort working across the stack as needed.

  • Experience using data-driven insights and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel) to improve user flows and app performance.

  • Experience with Web3 technologies and building on Ethereum. A conceptual understanding of DeFi.

  • A product-oriented mindset, with the ability to iterate rapidly and refine features based on user feedback and usage data.

  • A passion for Rubicon’s mission and a belief in the future of open, democratized financial systems.

  • 5+ years of experience in web or application development.

Location
This is a remote role, but we have a strong preference for candidates based in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX. While you can work remotely, we anticipate building an office in Austin in the near future, and you would be expected to join us there given the seniority of the position. Bonus points if you're already in Austin or can travel there as needed.
