At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.

As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

About the role:

As a Staff Product Designer at Samsara, you will be an instrumental leader on the Product Design team who will develop strategic designs and ship products that our customers use every day to run their operations. We’re looking for someone who is excited to shape the daily experience of those customers across industries such as transportation and logistics, construction, food and beverage, government and more. More specifically, this role will be focused on building a 0-1 product within the company. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Support, and Customer Success to understand the market, identify customer needs, design concepts, and deliver value to customers. You will also engage directly with customers and leverage their feedback throughout your process. This role will also entail high-level stakeholder engagement and the development of a roadmap in close partnership with Product.

We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, and countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper-growth environment.
  • You’re energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of  the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative,  ambitious ideas for our customers.
  • You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together, and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-caliber team that will encourage you to do your best.

In this role, you will:

  • Spearhead and deliver on high-impact, critical design projects that unlock significant customer and business value.
  • Work directly with customers to understand their needs and validate design solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering on strategy, planning, and execution.
  • Drive design roadmaps that make progress over multiple quarters on key company investments.
  • Articulate our product and design strategy in a way that builds excitement and motivates leadership.
  • Up-level the design team in skills, tools, and practice and instill good design sense in other disciplines.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 8+ years experience designing web & mobile applications.
  • Expertise in interaction and visual design.
