Smalls is seeking a Director of Supply Chain to lead and develop supply chain strategy and execution. The Director of Supply Chain is a vital leader and team player, not just in the Operations organization, but across internal and external teams. They will manage a small team of Supply Chain managers, and report directly to the VP of Operations. The right person for this role is an excellent communicator, analytical, excited to solve complex problems, and demonstrates the ability to implement new supply chain techniques and lean/continuous improvement programs.
Manage inventory, demand planning, and supply planning across different channels (DTC, retail, etc.), working closely with the commercial teams to meet demand opportunities.
Collaborate closely with the Director of Manufacturing for production planning.
Source and onboard new materials for manufacturing, warehousing, fulfillment and transportation partners.
Manage our 3PL and Fulfillment network: Identify the most effective inventory stocking strategy, provide warehouse performance oversight, proactively manage inventory (ensuring FEFO), minimize inventory waste/expiration, and perform cost control for warehousing and shipping expenditures.
Develop and improve our S&OP process, owning all relevant KPIs for Supply Chain and Fulfillment.
Monitor and reduce costs associated with inventory obsolescence, including monitoring shelf life, correspondence with sales, and production/demand planning.
Optimize order fill and reduce inter-company transfers via deployment activities, requiring close collaboration with co-manufacturing facilities. Maintain optimal stock levels.
Develop, structure, and operationalize third-party service provider relationships, including freight, warehousing, and related logistics.
Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing and Finance to meet company goals, and ensure transparency with key stakeholders.
Manage all suppliers in both direct and indirect procurement to formulate Supply Chain plans, processes and solutions for specific products, and to bid/negotiate on products/services.
Lead and develop a team of two supply chain managers.
You have worked in demand and supply planning with perishable products. At least 5 years is preferred. Perishable pet food is a HUGE plus!
You have a proven track record in the role’s responsibilities.
