At Tandem PV we are a team of people who are passionate about building a more sustainable world by bringing more cost effective solar panels onto the market. We’re scaling metal-halide perovskite solar technology to make best-in-class mechanically stacked tandem modules. We have built efficient, durable cells, monolithic multi-cell submodules, and packaged modules with our scalable, low-cost process. Our next focus is expanding our team and building a pilot manufacturing facility. Sounds like a lot, right? It is, and that’s why we need you to join the team!
In this critical role, you will work with a team of engineers and technicians in our R&D laboratory to execute and develop thin film solution deposition processes. You will be working closely with others to design experiments and help set a path towards manufacturing of perovskite panels. You will interface directly with your colleagues on the solution processing team as well as other teams to develop and execute experimental plans.
To stand out in this role, you will:
Work with a team of scientists/engineers/technicians to increase our capabilities, improve process efficiency, and dive deep into expanding our understanding of perovskite inks and perovskite deposition process within our module stack.
Be hands on, leading some of the experimentation yourself.
Optimize and troubleshoot perovskite deposition processes and de-bottleneck throughput limitations
Perform thin-film metrology and analyze and interpret results
Set perovskite development plans and execute on project plans
Be able to clearly and effectively communicate, plan, and execute with other teams in R&D to develop perovskite modules.
Qualifications:
We can teach a lot, but there are some basics you’ll need to know to hit the ground running, that includes:
Understand perovskite chemistry
Deep knowledge of science of perovskite solar cells, spanning chemistry, materials science, processing, and device physics
Previous experience with slot-die coating, preferably in industry, preferably with low-viscosity fluids, preferably on sheet-to-sheet
Have scale up experience with slot-die coating to larger substrate sizes and pre-production tools
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting processing tools
Hands on lab experience - including knowledge of safety in a wet chemistry environment and safe use of hazardous materials
Ability to create specific actionable project plans
Key skills that will help you accelerate in this role include:
A creative and curious approach to problem solving
Systems thinking - seeing each part/piece as a part of something bigger, piecing everything together for smooth connections and hand offs.
Ability to have successful technical feedback loops with technicians and engineers for project execution
Expert in statistics and data analytics
PhD or Postdoc with Thesis or postgraduate work related to perovskite solar cells
If you happen to have these skills - it’ll put you ahead of the game!
Knowledge and experience with halide perovskite materials and devices
Slot-die coating experience
Experience working in a solar company
No people managing anticipated, only technical managing
What we offer:
An awesome team of dedicated technologists changing the way the world is powered! If that’s not enough, we’ll take good care of you and your family with:
Flexible Time Off
Healthcare coverage
Life Insurance
Long-term & Short-term Disability
Parental leave
Meaningful equity
