Your challenge:

As the Senior Design Manager for Tax Filing, you will lead the design of the core Taxfix experience: our tax filing solution. While we’ve simplified tax filing for millions with our intuitive self-filing product, we are now evolving it to a new level, including an assisted service that democratizes access to professional tax advisors.

You will manage a team of senior Product Designers, UX Researcher, and a Content Designer, ensuring they have the resources to succeed. Working closely with your senior designers, you will empower your team to deliver high-quality design solutions efficiently, while aligning projects with the overarching product vision.

You will collaborate with Product leadership and the VP of Product Design to ensure your team is in sync with the company's strategic goals, driving forward our vision to simplify tax filing and provide expert tax advice to all.

Your responsibilities and decisions:

  •  Lead, mentor, and grow a team of designers across various disciplines. Provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews, and ensure continuous development of team members.

  • Foster strong relationships within the design team and across departments, ensuring effective communication and alignment with product and engineering teams. Collaborate closely with Product Leadership, helping set goals for your area in line with company goals, then aligning your team behind them

  • Oversee key projects and programs, ensuring that the team’s work directly contributes to the success of product and company goals. Effectively manage timelines, resources, and team priorities.

  • Ensure that your design team’s output meets the highest standards of quality. Work with senior designers to ensure innovation, consistency, usability, and visual appeal.

  • Leverage AI within your team to deliver results effectively & at high quality.

  • Continuously optimize processes and workflows within your team, identifying areas for increased efficiency and smoother cross-team collaboration, while respecting existing frameworks.

  • Take initiative to address challenges, troubleshoot issues, and drive results without waiting for direction. Display a can-do, entrepreneurial mindset that thrives in a fast-paced environment. 

Your profile:

  •  5+ years of professional experience in a leadership role managing and scaling product design teams in high growth companies, 8+ years in product design.

  • Proven track record of leadership in design initiatives, including innovative product launches and large-scale programs.

  • Ability to manage, motivate, and develop a high-performing team, fostering an environment of trust, accountability, and collaboration.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to understand and respect the perspectives and needs of both your team members and stakeholders across different functions.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and can-do approach that thrives in an evolving startup environment, embraces change and problem-solving.

  • Understanding of AI and how to apply it to ways of working in order to work better & higher quality.

  • A degree in design or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
