Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) Doorways model of care provides holistic financial support to individuals and families seeking short term financial assistance and ongoing financial management support services. The Doorways Team provide person-centred trauma informed care, facilitate short-term financial assistance, and walk side-by-side with participants as they build the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty.
This position will support community members to meet their goals through community partnerships, collaboration and using case management as a tool.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Doorways Caseworker who has a passion for using their skills to support vulnerable members of our community
Reporting to the Doorways regional Manager, this is a Permanent, Part-time role, located in ‘The Well’ St Kilda Victoria.
You will successfully
Collaborate with Corps Officers, Volunteers, and Mission Leaders to deliver integrated Doorways services locally.
Build and maintain relationships within TSA and with community stakeholders to identify resources and needs.
Assess community members’ needs, strengths, and interrelated issues.
Develop high-quality case plans with achievable goals using a strength-based approach.
Apply prevention and early intervention strategies to support those facing disadvantage and financial hardship.
Address long-term disadvantage and generational poverty through targeted support.
Help community members build capacity and develop independent living skills for self-determination.
Complete assessments and referrals for financial support (e.g., NILS, Energy Assistance) following state guidelines.
Guide community members, Corps Officers, and volunteers on accessing Doorways Emergency Financial Relief.
Develop and maintain referral pathways for additional support services.
Advocate for community members to access services and connect with appropriate communities.
Adhere to TSA policies, Doorways Model of Care, and Practice Guides.
Maintain accurate client records and data in SAMIS as per TSA standards and procedures.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
