Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Connected Technologies Division is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Planner I to join our Feature and Partner Planning Department. This department is responsible for planning and strategy for Toyota/Lexus Mobile App.

The Planner I is responsible for managing the CT intake process, app channel support, and enterprise strategy. This role is essential for driving the connected strategy across teams and ensuring a seamless execution of business priorities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver a high-quality product that exceeds the expectations of our customers and aligns with the company's strategic goals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee and optimize the intake process for all Connected Technologies and enterprise-related requests, ensuring that priorities are clear and properly aligned with business goals.

  • Work closely with feature planners, developers, and cross-functional teams to guide the app lifecycle, ensuring business and customer needs are met.

  • Act as a liaison between planning, development, and customer satisfaction teams to ensure smooth handoffs, knowledge transfers, clear communication, and timely execution of deliverables.

  • Facilitate alignment between app and enterprise solutions, ensuring that technical and operational aspects are integrated to deliver maximum impact.

  • Play a key role in developing and implementing strategies that connect our app ecosystem with enterprise platforms, improving user experiences and alignment between platforms.

  • Identify potential new and improved business directions and develop strategic options/approaches to recommend to management.

  • Accountable for business delivery of approved projects/requests on product backlog.

  • Maintain and track new features and product enhancements.

  • Review and maintain current information on competitive companies' products, and industry trends, and conduct customer research to create strategic planning and make suggestions to improve market share and revenue.

  • Define and prioritize product and customer requirements.

  • Lead Ideation Sessions utilizing existing products/data, work with internal groups and partners to identify new services and benefits

  • Identify customer needs and market conditions using data-driven insights.

  • Create Customer Journey Maps for baselining current products leading to roadmaps for future delivery of connected products.

  • Analyze and collect data to support enhancements to currently planned and in-market connected products.

  • Establish high level project schedules and collaborate across teams to resolve roadblocks/issues where possible or provide recommendations

  • Build and maintain relationships with all areas of TMNA enterprise to identify opportunities for engagement and cohesive integration between connected products and that area’s business drivers.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Marketing, Engineering, or related field; AND/OR equivalent professional work experience.

  • Up to 3 years’ experience in product strategy development or equivalent job experience.

  • Demonstrated success in managing intake processes and overseeing product lifecycles in a tech-focused environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence and persuade others, and the ability to create and present concepts, business cases, recommendations at all levels, from peers to executive.

  • Experience making process and product improvements using market research, data analysis, and user studies.

  • Knowledge of mobile application or software development utilizing Agile principles and methodologies.

  • Ability to manage a wide variety of projects across multiple brands, business units, and/or technology platforms.

Added bonus if you have

  • Automotive Industry experience.

  • Connected Car or Telematics experience.

  • Mobile App development experience.

  • Internship/Co-op work experience in product management, strategy, consulting, engineering, or other relevant disciplines.

  • Experience working in functional areas such telematics, product management, digital transformation, and emerging technologies and/or relevant industries such as automotive, consulting, or technology.

  • Agile product management or corporate development experience is also a plus.

  • Strong relationship building skills; Demonstrated ability to facilitate and achieve cohesion and among many different individuals and functions.

  • Ability to easily break down complex, ambiguous problems and propose novel solutions.

  • Experience managing multiple outside vendors /partners and creating win-win outcomes

  • Proficiency in creating or understanding business models (profit and loss, discounted cash flows, relevant key performance indicators).
