Dispatch Supervisor

Transdev in New Carrollton, MD is hiring a Dispatch Supervisor. Our Dispatch Supervisor ensures the Dispatch team fills all the routes and provides Operators with timely instructions and responses. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

CBA Position:
Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement:
  • Starting pay $24.04 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Pay Rate) with potential for annual increases.
Benefits include:
  • Vacation: 5 days per year with progression to 15 days per year
  • Comprehensive benefits package including: paid Sick Leave: 40 hours yearly full-time employees; medical, dental & vision after 90 calendar days of employment for full-time employees, life insurance, 401k retirement benefits, and company holidays.
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Assist the Dispatch Manager in administrative tasks, ensuring that attendance and performance goals are met, and scheduling requirements are efficiently managed
  • Monitor the performance of dispatchers, working closely with the Dispatchers to identify and address any performance issues, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns about no shows, cancellations, and missed trips.
  • Manage vehicle operator emergency situations & escalated calls.
  • Provide backup support to dispatching duties as needed without compromising primary administrative responsibilities
  • Assist in managing dispatcher schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels and schedule adherence while maintaining commitment to high-quality service
  • Manage department reports and other communication tools.
  • Support the Dispatch Manager in training new employees.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 2-3 of experience in dispatch, with a preference for experience in an administrative or supervisory role
  • Strong administrative, organizational, conflict resolution and communication skills
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Knowledge of the RIDE service area, traffic patterns, and paratransit operations is a plus
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason
Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
  • Work is accomplished indoors in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities  
  • Sit, type, and look at a computer for extended periods (up to 6–9 hours per day)
  • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer
  • Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
