Supply Chain Materials Manager

The Task at Hand:

The Supply Chain Materials Manager will oversee inventory management strategies to ensure efficient material flow and production operations. Responsibilities include managing VMI relationships with packaging suppliers, collaborating for timely resource, planning and coordinating logistics for raw material transfers. The manager also monitors stock levels, resolves ERP issues, drives inventory accuracy improvements, and leads a team to promote continuous improvement in materials management.


In This Role, You Will:

• Create and implement inventory management strategies to ensure efficient material flow and production operations.

• Manage the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) relationship with the primary packaging supplier to optimize inventory levels.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely availability of resources for production.

• Oversee material planning and coordinate the logistics of transferring raw materials and packaging to co-packers, ensuring materials are available on-site while minimizing costs.

• Provide short-term forecasts for materials and packaging based on finished goods projections and share insights with stakeholders.

• Work with Inventory and Accounting teams to monitor stock levels, identify discrepancies, and participate in inventory reconciliation.

• Assist in resolving ERP and purchasing system issues to ensure accurate receipt timing and address concerns.

• Manage effective dates for raw material and packaging changes to reduce surplus and obsolete inventory.

• Keep product change information updated and develop plans to phase out obsolete items.

• Drive improvements in materials inventory accuracy and promote collaboration across teams.

• Assist in the implementation of supply chain technologies to enhance visibility and automation in materials management.

• Lead and mentor a team of materials professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

• Additional responsibilities as needed.


In This Role, You’ll Bring With You:

• A Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or logistics roles, with a strong focus on production and inventory control.

• Proven experience managing vendor relationships and implementing materials management strategies in a manufacturing or production environment.

• Demonstrated expertise in materials requirements planning (MRP) and inventory management systems, including ERP software. Knowledge of Sage X3 preferred.

• Experience working cross-functionally with teams such as Production, Inventory, Quality Assurance, and Accounting to achieve operational goals.

• Strong analytical skills with experience in forecasting, data analysis, and inventory reconciliation.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis tools.

• Leadership experience in mentoring and developing teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally and externally with various teams including Accounting, QA, and our Co-manufacturing partners, knowing when and how to escalate pertinent issues and provide solutions designed to reduce the noise.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while continually driving improvement initiatives.

• Able to adapt and manage changing priorities, assuming additional responsibilities when needed.

• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms.

• Up to 10% travel required: Although this role is a remote work-from-home position, we “Farmers” do meet as a company and/or as a department a few times a year. Anticipate possible travel up to a few times each quarter.

• Genuinely passionate about improving childhood nutrition for a healthier and happier planet.

• Desire to contribute to a dynamic high-growth, purpose-driven work environment.

• Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity, deeply understand business needs, develop a cohesive strategy, and make decisions requiring a high level of judgment.

• Previous exposure to cross-functional work between Sustainability and Operations preferred.

• Must reside in the United States to be considered for this position.

Compensation:

• Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt.

• The anticipated salary range for this position is $83,000.00 to $96,000.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a few factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses, stipends, equity, and role-specific perks.
