Summary of Job Duties:

Works under the general supervision of the Chief of Police and the direct supervision of the Sergeant. Responsible for enforcement of traffic control, criminal laws, and parking regulations. This position is governed by the Law Enforcement Standards of Arkansas and UAMS Policies.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Current and valid Arkansas driver’s license.
  • Be certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy as a Police Officer or become certified within one (1) year of employment.  (Possibility of a one year extension).
  • Able to pass a medical physical examination.
  • Able to pass a psychological examination.
  • Ability to walk 8 to 12 miles in an 8 to 12 hour shift.
  • Ability to climb stairwells.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population.
