Associate Director of Admissions

The Associate Director of Admissions will play a key role in developing recruitment strategies, managing admissions processes, and supporting enrollment efforts at the University of Austin (UATX). They will help prospective students and families understand UATX’s distinctive approach to education while ensuring that all outreach aligns with the university’s mission, constitution, and distinctive education.


This role requires a proactive, student-focused individual who can build strong relationships and contribute to a welcoming and effective admissions process. The Associate Director will work closely with the Director of Admissions, Admissions Counselors, and other university stakeholders to expand UATX’s reach and attract highly motivated students. Success in this position will require adaptability, independent decision-making, and comfort working in a fast-paced, startup environment, along with a willingness to staff some weekend events and travel for recruitment efforts.


Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment & Outreach
  • Identify and engage high-caliber prospective students.
  • Develop and execute innovative recruitment strategies.
  • Represent UATX at high schools, college fairs, and events.
  • Expand recruitment opportunities and partnerships among top-tier student populations.
  • Ensure excellence, professionalism, and a commitment to the UATX mission in all outreach efforts.
  • Analyze recruitment data and trends to refine strategies and target new high-caliber student populations.

  • Admissions & Enrollment Management
  • Oversee the admissions pipeline and ensure timely application processing.
  • Track and assess recruitment efforts, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Optimize the use of Slate for recruitment and communication.

  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Hire, train, and manage Admissions Counselors.
  • Collaborate closely with academics, student life, and communications to refine admissions policies and strategies.
  • Foster a high-performance, mission-driven team culture.

  • Marketing & Communications
  • In collaboration with the Communications Department, lead the development of recruitment materials and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Keep admissions-related website content updated.

  • Scholarships & Financial Aid Support
  • Collaborate with financial aid in the tracking and managing scholarship awards.
  • Guide prospective students and families through financial aid processes.

  • Academic Event Management
  • Plan and execute high-impact recruitment events.
  • Oversee and execute campus tours and weekly visit days.
  • Showcase UATX’s mission, faculty, and students through engaging events.

  • Other Duties
  • Recommend tech solutions to enhance recruitment efficiency.
  • Take initiative in projects as assigned by leadership.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3+ years of experience in admissions, recruitment, or relationship management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Slate (or similar CRM) a plus, Microsoft Office, and digital marketing tools.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work evenings/weekends as needed.


Working Conditions
  • Full-time, on-site position in Austin, TX. Not remote eligible.
  • Frequent travel and some evening/weekend work required.
