Operations Manager (SY25-26, High School)

What You’ll Do

The School Operations Manager plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all aspects at both campuses for our school. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day operational activities, overseeing facilities, coordinating administrative support, and ensuring that the school environment is safe, organized, and conducive to learning. The School Operations Manager works closely with school leadership, staff, and external partners to support the overall mission and objectives of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Academic administration 
    • Support the scheduling team with developing and implementing the school schedule. 
    • Manage the coverage of classes/duties for absent staff.
    • Manage the logistical elements of all major student assessments (i.e. MCAS, ANET, MAP, ACCESS, SAT, PSAT, midterm and final exams etc.)
    • Support with new staff onboarding and offboarding 
    • Manage student enrollment, intake and disenrollment. 
    • Develop and manage operations during school break academies like Feb break, Summer school etc
    • Support Early college operations which includes, but are not limited to scheduling, transportation needs, staff coverage etc. 
    • Collaborate with the Athletic Director to support student club assignments and systems
  2. Event planning and execution
    • Plan and support family and staff events (report card conferences, heritage month celebrations, community meetings, clubs showcases, open house, family nights, etc)
    • Organize and promote all schoolwide events 
    • Lead and supervise the execution of afterschool and during the schoolday events 
    • Work with the team to debrief/catalogue school eventsand activities. 
  3. Operations staff management 
    • Work with the principal or designee to hire, manage, coach, and develop the school operations staff that may include the office manager, operations associate, SPED clerk  etc
    • Provide feedback to the operations staff and holds them accountable to goals and outcomes
  4. Facilities Management:
    • Oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of school facilities.
    • Collaborate with the facility manager to coordinate repairs, upgrades, and regular maintenance to ensure optimal learning environments.
    • Collaborate with our facilities manager to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Lead the team in executing and maintaining the school’s visual culture 
  5. Logistics & Resource Management:
    • Manage the procurement and distribution of school supplies, equipment, and resources.
    • Plan and support with scheduling and logistics for school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
    • Ensure safe and reliable student transportation services by overseeing student transportation and school vehicle management. 
    • Lead the school readiness/startup process each school year through planning and ordering furniture, equipment, instructional supplies, and ensuring that student services (e.g. food service, transportation) are ready to go. 
  6. Financial Oversight:
    • Track expenditures and ensure that all operational costs are within the approved budget and aligned to the schools academic priorities 
    • Manage school personnel to ensure the team is following the necessary fiscal procedures.
  7. Health & Safety:
    • Develop and implement school-wide safety protocols and emergency plans.
    • Oversee the management of health and wellness services, including coordinating with the school nurse.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety standards.
  8. Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with external vendors and service providers like sodexo and first student to ensure that school needs are met, accurate reporting and financial management 
    • Collaborate with the facility manager and technology coordinator to coordinate external services
  9. Schoolwide systems and professional development:
    • Develop and support school systems and procedures (arrival, lunch, dismissal, etc)
    • Develop and run systems and platform training for current/new staff. 
    • Collaborate with the Student Success Team to operationalize culture systems
  10. Technology and student information systems.
    • Manages our SIS (powerschool) and maintains accurate student data and information in compliance with federal, state, regional and school expectations
    • Work with the technology coordinator to manage the technology needs (chromebooks, curriculum requests etc) of the school and report any challenges or improvements to the school leadership team. 

What You’ll Need

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Access
  • Ability to work independently on a variety of tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills with students, parents/families, colleagues, and community members
  • Previous experience in operations (experience in school operations preferred)
  • Prior K-12 teaching or educational experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • A dedication to fighting racism in our educational institutions and in daily life, and knowledge of the history of race and racism, as well as the systems of oppression our students face
  • Experience with project planning and management (required)
  • Fluency in Spanish (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment

Veritas Prep offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefit packages that include the following:

  • Salary Range for this position is $60,000- $78,000, exclusive of fringe benefits.
    • If hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience.
    • In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
    • Keep in mind, the above range is the full base salary range for this position. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
