Job Description:

Satair is looking for a Tooling Product Lead to join our team based in Herndon, VA.

You will be part of the team to provide an overall accountability for a product’s financial and operational performance as well as customer satisfaction. As such, even where the operations are supported by other departments the product leaders have the responsibility for reporting and the mandate to request actions from contributing areas.

Your challenges:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drives the development of the products so as to define and lead financial and operational performance improvements in conjunction with the respective development of skills & competences of the resources.

  • Oversee tailored OEM programs through wide service offering (Repair, Warranty, Exchange via Consignment Inventory Management), strengthening integration with key OEM partners

  • Support product development teams with projects which deal with the development of our customer products' needs.

  • Manage the interface between key stakeholders (repair service management, Satair red channel AOG, SM, CRS, Account Director, Quality, etc.)

  • Manage Customer’s Open Sales order for Airbus Blue channel including late order management

  • Formalize/plan and get leaner on the recurrent tasks

  • Responsible for monitoring Battery Maintenance Program (BMP) for external customers & Satair distribution lines (In-house repair administration)

  • Monitor, launch and implement actions to secure the operational and financial performance.

  • Oversee management of A220 Tool leases and A220 Airbus Proprietary Parts repairs

  • Support the identification of the skills & competences that are required to develop our product and take actions to secure them.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Tool Operational Performance Measurement- Including KPI generation and development

  • Tool Financial Performance Measurement- Including of KPI generation and development

  • Ensure that correct and transparent reports are received from the responsible stakeholders (financial & operational KPis) and launch initiatives to make the monitoring processes leaner (data/tools).

  • Collection, analysis and implementation of lessons learnt I corrective actions for missed tool lease opportunities (not in stock, or not in stock in Dulles)

  • Full process mapping in line with Shape and Lean standards Tool/Inventory management

  • Tool Planning - Forecasting future potential demand and adjusting inventory levels accordingly and follow up on PO’s for the acquisition of tool lease stock.

  • Tool Scrapping analysis decision

  • Control of tool stock and inventory discrepancies (in conjunction with the appropriate planning teams

Re-certification and Inspection

  • Management of inspection lead times of new and returned tools

  • Discrepancy resolution and launch of action to resolve the discrepancy (New lease stock as well as lease returns)

  • Management of tool inspection TAT

  • Arrangement of In-House inspection subcontractor (including repair order follow up)

Qualified Experience and Training:

  • Education: BS degree (Degree in Aeronautics / Aeronautical Engineering is preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant working experience

  • Working knowledge of SAP

  • Good people, and leadership skills

  • PC literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets and database use

  • Good business acumen

  • Knowledge of Customer Business & Operations, Customer expectations & needs

  • Knowledge of Export Control Basics

  • Technical Data Awareness and good analytical and numeracy skills

  • Knowledge of Maintenance Oriented Airworthiness Rules & Maintenance operation

  • IT affinity to support the digitalization of manual processes

  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: On-site

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily

  • Hearing: able to hear and to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Daily

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Daily

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Daily

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
