Role Description: 

We are seeking a Senior Frequency Planning & Licensing Specialist to support statewide Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems. This role will be on-demand, meaning hours will fluctuate based on project needs. Candidates must be experienced in FCC licensing, frequency planning, and regulatory compliance for public safety communications systems.

 

You’ll be responsible for (Responsibilities): 

  • Design and implement LMR systems (conventional and trunked) in VHF, UHF, and 7/800 MHz bands
  • Conduct frequency planning and secure FCC licensing for statewide LMR systems
  • Ensure compliance with FCC Part 90 regulations and 4.9 GHz migration and re-licensing
  • Coordinate with FCC-certified frequency coordinators and 7/800 MHz Regional Planning Committees (RPCs)
  • Collaborate on spectrum sharing agreements with Canada
  • Support statewide public safety communications projects
Required Skills and Experience
    • 10 or more years of experience in LMR system design and implementation
    • 5 or more years of experience in statewide LMR system planning and deployment
    • 5 or more years of experience in FCC licensing and frequency coordination
    • Expertise in public safety communications and regulatory compliance
    • Experience with FCC-certified frequency coordinators and 7/800 MHz RPCs
    • Strong knowledge of FCC regulations, including Part 90 and 4.9 GHz rules
    • Familiarity with international coordination rules with Canada

  •  Bachelor's Degree in related field is required.
