POSITION SUMMARY

The Graduate Assistant, under the direction of the Campus Visit Coordinator and Recruitment Events Coordinator, is involved in a variety of activities within the Office of Admission. This position is best suited for graduate students who are interested in pursuing professional opportunities in the field of higher education/student affairs or communications, or event planning. The Graduate Assistant in the Office of Admission will work up to 20 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Providing direct support to the Campus Visit Coordinator and Recruitment Events Coordinator
  • Assisting with website maintenance 
  • Assisting with communication plan development
  • Working with Communication Coordinator and Campus Visit Coordinator or others, depending on the individual GA applicant strengths
  • Assist with signature events for Office of Admission
  • Perform tasks necessary to maintain smooth office operations, forms and procedures, and the daily workflow
  • Coordinate meetings with faculty and staff on campus
  • Monitoring admission email account and responding to inquiries
  • Ability to have a strong sense of professional ethics and respect for privacy and confidentiality
  • Creativity, high energy, strong work ethic, and professionalism
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned

  • Innovative - Innovation is the ability to go beyond the conventional, a willingness to try different solutions, and to encourage new ideas from employees and co-workers. This competency asks the question “How willing are you to “work outside the box”?” 
  • Organized -Organizational skills looks at the ability of the individual to be structured and methodical in working skills. This competency asks the question “Is your working style neat and disciplined?” 
  • Responsible - Responsibility looks at the ability of the individual to be trustworthy or answerable for their conduct. This competency asks the question “How trustworthy and reliable are you?” 
  • Self-Motivated-Self motivational skills looks at the ability of the individual to reach a goal or perform a task with little supervision or direction. This competency asks the question “How successful are you at providing your own incentives for success?”

  • Must be fully admitted to a Master’s program at Benedictine College

Experience

  • Experience working in higher education setting
  • Strong writer with copy editing skills
  • Proficiency with website and email content management systems, as well as MS Office      Suite and/or customer relationship management systems
