Euclid Hospital offers the most effective surgical services, from less invasive techniques to major procedures for critical conditions. As an RN in the General OR, you will assist our expert surgeons and fellow caregivers in preparing patients for operations, monitoring their condition and ensuring comfort throughout the entire process. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients and their families, all while pursuing individual educational and professional opportunities offered by Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00AM – 3:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
Perform scrub functions, including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
Perform circulating functions, including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of hire

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
