About the Role
CloudZero's Product organization is looking for a technically-proficient, customer-centric, and innovative Senior Technical UX Designer to create sophisticated, user-centered design solutions that bridge complex technical functionality with intuitive user experiences. As a Senior Technical UX Designer, you will leverage your deep understanding of frontend technologies, system architecture, and cloud infrastructure to design interfaces that make complex technical data accessible and actionable. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with engineering teams, product managers, and technical stakeholders to ensure that powerful functionality is delivered through elegant, usable interfaces. You will use design sprints or similar customer-centric methodologies to prototype and test new technical product capabilities, with a particular focus on data visualization, dashboard design, and complex workflow optimization. You'll bring your unique perspective to the work: we want it to be technically informed, architecturally sound, empathetic toward technical users, and respectful of engineering constraints.
Responsibilities:
Conduct research with technical users including developers, DevOps engineers, and FinOps practitioners to understand their mental models, workflows, and pain points.
Design complex data visualizations, dashboards, and interfaces that make cloud cost metrics and infrastructure data intuitive and actionable.
Create technical user flows and interaction patterns that align with how engineers and technical stakeholders think and work.
Develop sophisticated, interactive prototypes that accurately simulate complex system behaviors and data relationships.
Design for technical touchpoints including APIs, CLIs, integrations, and automation workflows.
Collaborate directly with frontend and backend engineers to ensure technical feasibility and implementation fidelity.
Maintain and expand our technical component library within our design system, with special focus on data visualization components.
Conduct usability testing with technical users and iterate designs based on their specialized feedback.
Understand cloud infrastructure concepts and translate complex technical metrics into meaningful visualizations.
Apply information architecture expertise to organize complex technical data and workflows
Create design documentation that effectively communicates technical requirements and implementation details to engineering teams.
Build design patterns that scale across different technical use cases while maintaining consistency.
Stay current with emerging technical trends in data visualization, technical UX, and developer experience design.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in UX design for technical products, developer tools, or enterprise systems
Strong understanding of frontend technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks
Experience designing for data-intensive applications, dashboards, and analytics tools
Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into intuitive user experiences
Experience designing for technical users (developers, IT professionals, data scientists)
Deep knowledge of Figma and ability to create reusable, scalable component systems
Experience with data visualization design and best practices for presenting complex metrics
Understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts and terminology (preferably AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Experience with developer experience (DX) design and API documentation
Ability to read and understand code and technical specifications to inform design decisions
Excellent communication skills with the ability to discuss technical concepts with engineering teams
Experience designing for both traditional web interfaces and technical touchpoints (CLI, API)
Expertise in information architecture for complex technical systems
Familiarity with FinOps, cloud cost management, or related domains a plus
Experience with technical prototyping tools and practices
Comfort with rapid iteration cycles and an agile development environment
About CloudZero
Cloud cost management is one of the biggest challenges organizations face today. As cloud adoption continues to accelerate, so do the complexities and costs associated with it — and macroeconomic conditions only increase pressure to prove cloud efficiency. That's why we built CloudZero: a SaaS platform at the intersection of next-generation cloud cost management and FinOps. CloudZero ingests billing and usage data from all cloud, SaaS, and PaaS providers, organizes it in real time according to our customers' business structures, lets customers view it at any level of time or resource granularity, and ultimately empowers them to make more informed business decisions.
Since our founding in 2016, our mission has been to make efficient innovation a reality for every cloud-driven organization. At CloudZero, we believe every engineering decision is a buying decision, yet the cost conversation often bypasses the engineers who drive those determinations. To solve this, we've built a dynamic, single-page application that answers the complex, data-heavy questions every cloud-based organization needs to ask if they want to grow their company profitably.
To date, we've raised over $52 million from leading venture capital firms across the country. We're solving problems of massive scale, business importance, and complexity in a space that needs it more than ever. We're growing rapidly and would love for you to be a part of it!
