About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior AI Perception Engineer to join our team. This is a critical role focused on developing and deploying multimodal AI systems that combine the strengths of computer vision and large language models. You will be a key contributor to the architecture, development, and deployment of our AI platform, working on challenging problems with significant real-world impact.
Responsibilities
Video-Centric AI System Design: Design, develop, and deploy state-of-the-art computer vision models specifically tailored for video understanding, including tasks like object detection and tracking, action/activity recognition, anomaly detection, and scene understanding within video streams.
LLM and multimodal AI for Video Analysis: Integrate and fine-tune large language models (LLMs) to enhance video analysis capabilities. This includes using LLMs for tasks such as generating natural language descriptions of video events, answering questions about video content, and extracting structured information from video.
Real-Time Video Processing: Optimize models for real-time or near real-time performance, enabling rapid analysis of video feeds.
End-to-End Pipeline Development: Build and maintain the entire AI pipeline, from data ingestion and preprocessing to model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
Research and Innovation: Stay at the forefront of research in computer vision, video analysis, and LLMs. Evaluate and adapt cutting-edge techniques to improve our platform's performance and capabilities.
Collaboration and Mentorship: Collaborate closely with other engineers, data scientists and product managers. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Insurtech Application: Apply your video AI expertise to solve real world insurance problems.
Required experience
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
6+ years of experience developing and deploying end to end computer vision models in production environments
Experience fine tuning LLM for video analytics
Extensive experience with PyTorch and computer vision libraries
Strong programming skills in Python and C++
Solid understanding of machine learning principles and their application to real-world problems
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Nice-to-have
Experience in Linux environment and competence in selecting appropriate hardware for running ML models with desired latency.
Experience in data science and methods of ML Ops.

Working at CompScience
Compensation: CompScience is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary range for this role is $160,000 – $210,000. Compensation is determined within the range based on your qualifications and experience. Our total compensation package also includes equity and comprehensive benefits.
