We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety / Compliance Manager to sit within the Spanish Store Operations Team. Reporting to the COO, you will be responsible for overseeing Health & Safety and compliance across Spain including head office and retail units.
This is an opportunity for someone looking for a hands-on role where you will be responsible for risk assessments, training, implementing, and maintaining Health and Safety, ensuring best practice and compliance in line with Spanish regulations across all sites working collaboratively with stores, trade unions and HQ departments.
The role requires frequent travel to our different locations in Spain and can therefore be based at either our Barcelona or Madrid offices.
What you will be responsible for:
Act as the Prevention Technician for Spanish business activities
Responsible for maintaining up to date risk evaluations for existing and future positions as well as their preventive activities and measures.
Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures and programs in line with Spanish regulations and industry best practices
Promoting a positive Health & Safety culture by developing and implementing effective management systems and ensuring legal compliance
Providing appropriate risk assessment methodologies to comply with legislation and ensure all potential risks are identified and control measures implemented and monitored.
Leading any necessary accident/incident investigation and reporting, with recommendations. When required conduct formal investigations where employee safety is, or may be, affected
Chairing Health & Safety committee meetings
Coordinating and organizing regular safety trainings: Health and Safety inductions, refreshers for existing employees, First aid training, as well as, and not limited, medical check for all Uniqlo Employees in Spain
Responsible for maintaining up to date the evacuation plans of the stores and SSC and carrying out fire drills and ensuring that fire wardens/marshals are appointed and trained and overseeing the annual fire risk assessment.
Coordination of business activities and manage third-party vendor
Keeping up to date with new legislation, informing and advising the business leaders on what the impact of those will be
Provide to the COO on a quarterly basis a compliance audit report for all sites
Skills, Experience and Attributes:
Bachelor Degree in Science (Technical Engineer, Chemist, Physics, or similar), HR or Legal and Master on Health and Safety
At least 2-3 years of proven experience managing Health & Safety (in 2 of the 3 specialties) / Compliance across a multi-site portfolio. Ideally within a retail / logistics setting.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English
Demonstrate ability to drive a culture of safety, including promoting employee engagement and participation in health and safety initiatives
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
The ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate health and safety considerations into all aspects of our operations in store, including logistics, maintenance and store development
