Figure Eight Federal is seeking a Geospatial Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will design/manage geospatial databases, support data integration.


Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and interpret geospatial imagery including Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) 
  • Process raw satellite data using specialized geospatial software tools 
  • Perform change detection analysis to identify significant developments over time 
  • Create detailed reports and visual presentations of findings for stakeholders 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate geospatial analysis into broader projects 
  • Develop and implement geospatial analysis methodologies and workflows 
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and techniques in remote sensing 


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Geography, Earth Sciences, or related field (additional years of experience may be substituted for education)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in geospatial analysis with specific expertise in satellite imagery interpretation 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with EO/IR and SAR imagery types 
  • Experience with common geospatial software platforms (i.e. QGIS, ESRI ArcGIS, ENVI, ERDAS) 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal 
  • Active Top Secret security clearance 


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant GIS certification
  • Strong preference for SAR interpretation/exploitation expertise 
  • Knowledge of US government geospatial datasets and standards (e.g. NITF) 
  • Knowledge of cloud-based geospatial platforms 
  • Familiarity with machine learning applications in satellite imagery analysis 
  • Experience with LiDAR data and point cloud processing 
  • Experience with Python, R, or other programming languages for geospatial data analysis
