Creative & Strategy Lead

Company Description

At Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen, our mission has always been to reinvent fast-food. We’re Australia’s only fast-food restaurant to be 100% clean, meaning there are no added preservatives, artificial flavours, added colours or unacceptable additives in our food. We’re incredibly proud of our amazing people, and the unique way we celebrate Mexican culture in everything we do.

Job Description

About the Role

We are going to be real. This might just be the best creative job in the country.

At Guzman y Gomez (GYG), we’re not your average QSR brand. We’re loud, we’re proud, and we’re obsessed with doing things differently. Our campaigns are talked about, what we (and you) do will be shared, our socks sell out (seriously), and our food? It speaks for itself.

We’re on the hunt for a Creative Strategy Lead. Someone who can dream big, move fast, and bring that GYG flavour to everything we do, from major brand campaigns and activating sports sponsorships to new restaurant openings and local area marketing that makes headlines.

This is a senior creative role for someone with serious ideas, serious hustle, and not-so-serious vibes. Reporting into our Head of Creative and Strategy, you will closely with our Brand and Marketing crew to bring culture-shaping ideas to life and have a blast doing it.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Come up with the goods: Multi-million dollar media campaigns, activations, events, content, Tik Toks, sock drops, PR moments, you name it.
  • Push the brand in bold direction while staying true to our GYG values, brand and DNA
  • Collaborate like a beast: Work cross-functionally with marketing legends, restaurant ops, digital teams, and partners.
  • Make annual highlights pop: Reinvent GYG classics like Cinco de Mayo, $5 Burrito Day and our iconic socks to keep ‘em fresh.
  • Bring the heat to local restaurant openings, sports sponsorships, and community campaigns.
  • Be fast AND flawless: Think at lightning speed, sweat the details, and make the magic happen.
  • Guide the crew: Help manage our creative output, inspire teams, and deliver brand experiences people actually care about.
  • End to End campaign development – build the strategy, come up with the ideas, produce and execute with the inhouse creative studio.
  • Work alongside the Design and videography lead to build world class creative that cuts through the noise and always keeps GYG ahead of the curve.

Who You Are

  • A walking, talking ideas machine.
  • Big thinker, tight executor. You love bold concepts and even better rollout plans.
  • You get the GYG vibe, but bring your own twist.
  • Obsessed with food, people, culture, and making brands feel human.
  • You don’t just get content, you live and breathe it.
  • Confident in the room, collaborative on the tools.
  • Ready to jump in, speak up, and make your mark.
  • A hands on creative, you like to get your hands dirty with the crew to bring campaigns to life, and you’re not precious about it.

What You’ve Done

  • Worked agency-side, publisher side or in-house for 5+ years, ideally with national brands.
  • Led major campaigns across multiple channels, digital, social, PR, TV & in-restaurants.
  • Built or contributed to brand experiences, events or cheeky stunts.
  • Ideated for local area marketing (LAM) and know how to make it feel big.
  • Worked with creative teams, videographers and photographers and maybe even wrestled with a printer at midnight. We get it.

Skills You’ll Need

  • Killer creative thinking and concept development
  • Experience with integrated campaigns
  • Excellent deck and presentation skills
  • Clear, creative copywriting chops
  • Visual direction and brand storytelling
  • Brief writing (and receiving) and stakeholder wrangling
  • Finger on the pulse of trends, culture, and food
  • You recognise that AI can help you be better, it’s not going to replace you
  • Strong eye for detail (because yes, the spacing matters)
  • Ability to become a brand custodian and help guide other teams to help them stay “on brand”.

Even Better If…

  • You’ve worked in QSR, FMCG, or a fast-paced retail environment
  • You’ve done event marketing or sports sponsorships
  • You’ve got design or content production in your back pocket
  • You’re the one in the group chat with the best memes

We’re Big on Values - We Live These Values (Every Day, Not Just in Theory)

At GYG, our values shape everything, from how we show up in meetings to how we show up in a meme. You’ll thrive here if these resonate with you:

  • It’s All About the Food
You get that our creativity starts in our kitchens. Real, clean Mexican inspired food, and full of flavour. It’s why we exist.
  • Make Every Customer Love Us
You bring the kind of ideas that stick with people and make them feel something, ideally hungry.
  • Got Your Back
We’re a team-first crew. You support your people, pitch in when needed, and celebrate the wins together.
  • Be Real
No corporate buzzwords here. You’re authentic, grounded, and comfortable bringing your whole self to the job.
  • It’s Up to Us
You take ownership, show initiative, and don’t wait around for someone else to make it happen. You’re the “let’s go” in the room.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • Work on one of Australia’s most exciting (and fastest growing) brands
  • Be part of a crew that’s all in on creativity, culture and community
  • Room to take risks, break rules (the good kind), and try new things
  • No two days are the same, seriously
  • Be proud of the work you do (and the food you eat)
