DevOps/SRE lead - Principal/Senior Principal level

The Role:

This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to drive the success of both DevOps and SRE practices within the team. We are seeking a Team Lead with expertise in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is responsible for guiding a team to ensure the seamless integration of development and operations, while maintaining the reliability and scalability of software systems. Key responsibilities include:

1.      Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

2.      CI/CD Pipelines: Oversee the automation of build, test, and deployment processes to ensure rapid and reliable software delivery.

3.      Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Manage and provision infrastructure using tools like Terraform or Ansible.

4.      Monitoring and Logging: Implement and maintain comprehensive monitoring and logging systems to track application performance and detect issues early.

5.      Collaboration: Promote a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams to improve workflow and communication.

6.      Security: Integrate security practices into the DevOps workflow to ensure secure software development and deployment.

7.      Incident Response: Lead the detection and response to system failures promptly to minimize downtime and impact.

8.      Automation: Develop automated solutions for repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce human error.

9.      Performance Optimization: Ensure applications run efficiently and can scale effectively to meet demand.

10.  Disaster Recovery: Prepare and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.

11.  Service Level Objectives (SLOs): Define and measure SLOs to maintain system reliability and meet performance targets.

12.  Project Management: Balance and prioritize team activities, including operational tasks, projects, and reliability improvements

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • Experience:

o   10-12 years of experience in software development, operations, or a related field.

o   5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps and SRE practices, including CI/CD, IaC, monitoring, and automation.

o   Leadership experience: At least 2-3 years in a leadership or managerial role, guiding teams and projects.

o   Strong technical background: Proficiency in relevant tools and technologies (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker).

o   Excellent communication skills: Ability to foster collaboration between development and operations teams

o   Strong knowledge of Telecommunications domains

  • Language Skills:
    • Fluent in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
    • Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong leadership skills and stakeholder management.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
    • Proactive and results oriented.
