Job DescriptionInsight Global is looking for a Technical Editor and Writer 1 to support a large federal contract at our Suffolk, VA Joint Staff Complex.Objectives of this role:• Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards• Gain deep understanding of products and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content• Write user-friendly content that suits the target audience’s needs• Evaluate current content and develop innovative methods for improvementEssential Job ResponsibilitiesWrites, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.Additional Responsibilities:• Research, outline, write, and edit product user guides, technical specifications, and process documentation• Analyze products and communicate with product designers and developers to understand project and end-user requirements• Gather feedback from subject-matter experts (SMEs) to fact-check documentation and perform quality assurance checks before final publication• Coordinate diagrams, drawings, and/or other visual media• Employ uniform branding and voice across all documentationMinimum Qualifications0 years experience with Bachelors in related field or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.Required Skills and Qualifications:• Ability to obtain DoD clearance• Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter• Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences• Excellent written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail• Strong research and interviewing skills• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyPreferred Skills and Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, English, or a relevant technical field• Experience working with engineers to improve user experience, refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content• Experience using MadCap Flare or another topic-based authoring software• Experience using Atlassian products, such as Confluence and JiraCompensation:$24.04hr to $28.85hr.Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
