Job Details:

Job Description:

Intel's Neuromorphic Computing Lab is seeking an AI Researcher and Engineer to pioneer emerging AI software, algorithms, and applications for Intel's neuromorphic processor that will enable the commercial deployment of Intel's neuromorphic computing technology. Neuromorphic computing takes inspiration from biological systems to realize vastly more efficient and adaptable AI than what is possible with today's conventional computing architectures. Intel's Loihi series of neuromorphic processors have advanced the frontier of application research with over 100 peer-reviewed publications from a Loihi developer community of over 250 research groups worldwide. These results confirm the promise of the technology to bring breakthroughs in energy efficiency and performance to tasks spanning perception, planning, learning, and control from the edge to the data center. As a member of our team, you will develop application software that enables hardware-aware solutions for mathematical optimization, graph search, or robotics for use in real-world applications in collaboration with partners and customers. You will be part of a diverse international team of engineers and researchers working together on our mission to demonstrate the commercial value of our technology. Your day-to-day work may range from designing new projects, gathering requirements for customer use cases, developing high-quality application software, high-level algorithm development, porting algorithms to Intel's neuromorphic systems, benchmarking their performance against conventional solutions, deploying application prototypes with customers, publishing or presenting results in journals or at conferences. To be successful in this position, we are seeking candidates with expert software development skills and a strong background in mathematical optimization, probability theory, statistical mechanics, deep learning, or machine learning. Candidates should also come with a demonstrated track record of turning these skills into innovative technical solutions as measured by peer-reviewed publications, patents, or student projects in the fields of interest. Outstanding presentation skills and experience in designing and managing projects are considered a strong plus.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
- MSc in the fields of Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and applied skills in mathematical optimization, robotic control, motion planning, and related SW tools and libraries
- 6+ years of experience in Python and/or C/C++ with the ability to design and write quality code.
- 3+ years or experience in collaborative software development (design methodologies, SCRUM, version control, software testing, etc.)
- 3+ years of experience with developing HW-aware algorithms for neuromorphic hardware systems or other novel AI accelerators.
- Experience with motion planning, robotic control, and robotics in general.
-Excellent communication skills, customer-oriented, attention to detail and demonstrated project management skills.
- Work permit in Germany.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with compiler development for AI accelerators.
- Experience with mathematical optimization algorithms and graph search.
- Experience with performance profiling and benchmarking algorithms and hardware architectures.
- Good grasp of basic computer architecture principles and algorithms.
- Prior contributions to open-source projects.
