Job Description

Job summary:  Supervise parking lots and areas of the building determined by the administration on school days.  Individual(s) will encourage appropriate student conduct and attempt to prevent loitering, theft, trespassing, etc., on school property. Assist the classroom teachers with instructional activities, working directly and indirectly with students.  

 


Responsibilities and tasks include (Hall/Parking Monitor)

 
  • Monitor student and staff vehicles to see that they are parked legally, obey traffic rules and deposit liter in appropriate containers.
  • Be alert to the behaviors of students that would be of concern for the well being of the school.
  • Monitor student behavior on school property.
  • Report suspicious activities on school grounds to appropriate school authorities.
  • Inform appropriate school authorities when emergencies develop or questions arise.
 
Responsibilities and tasks include (Instructional): 
  • Assist in general classroom operational procedures such as setting up and operating audiovisual equipment, preparing and setting up art supplies, etc.
  • Work directly with students individually or in small groups on academic and motor or social skills, e.g., reading, math, color recognition, decision making, self-esteem building, etc.
  • Assist students and teachers in large group activities/projects. Seek out special instructional materials to assist with students having particular learning problems, e.g., separate math skill worksheet, not a part of teacher's curriculum.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by principal or designee.
 

Minimum qualifications include:  

 
  • Applicants must be Highly Qualified - Applicants meet the Highly Qualified requirement if they have:
    • Two years of study at an institution of higher education; Minnesota’s standard; A minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full-time enrollment as determined by the institution attended OR
    • An Associate’s (or higher) degree; Minnesota’s standard: An AA, AS, AAS, (or higher) degree OR
    • Received a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment within 30 days of your start date, working in a Title I school must be Highly Qualified in accordance with MDE
      • District will pay for the exam and up to 10 hours of prep and exam time.
 
Preferred qualifications include:
 
  • Good understanding of the philosophy of today's high school and high school student; be able to understand, communicate and accept senior high students.
  • Basic understanding of discipline and the benefits of good discipline.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures of the building.
 

Salary:  View Classification I (1) salary grid on page 4, section 2, and classification II (2), page 5, section 2 on Educational Support Professional contract

Work schedule: 6.25 hours/day; 5 days/week (3.25 hrs/day Student & Parking Lot Monitor - class 1 pay and 3 hrs/day Instructional - class 2 pay) Part-time, school year
