Professional Development Manager

Role Description: The Professional Development Manager at MagicSchool leads complex training initiatives, managing large-scale professional development campaigns and contractors (virtual and in-person) nationally and internationally. While overseeing contractor work, you’ll collaborate closely with customer success and education teams to enhance the customer experience.

This role requires expertise in professional development, operations, and LMS/online learning platforms. You’ll design, deliver, and optimize training programs to drive engagement and platform adoption, working both remotely and on-site.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for driving towards these goals:

  • Enhance Customer Engagement in Development Programs: Define and achieve a 25% increase in participation rates and engagement scores in customer professional development programs within the next 6 months by optimizing training content and delivery methods based on participant feedback and engagement data.

  • Accelerate Time to Competency: Define and reduce the average time for customers to reach competency with key features by 30% within the next quarter through improved onboarding and targeted training interventions, as measured by time-to-competency metrics and feedback from customer assessments.

  • Increase Monthly Active Users (MAU) through Training Initiatives: Drive a 20% increase in Monthly Active Users (MAU) within the next 6 months by implementing effective professional development programs that encourage the adoption and regular use of features, as evidenced by tracking user activity and engagement post-training.

  • Build Capacity and Scale for Professional Learning: Successfully create and execute a plan to build capacity to meet business needs which may include hiring, onboarding, and scaling a network of professional development facilitators (contracts, companies, etc.) to support content creation and delivery by the end of Q2. Ensure that contractors are equipped with the necessary training, resources, and guidance to deliver high-quality professional development sessions aligned with MagicSchool’s standards.

Qualifications/Competencies/Skills

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Data-Driven Strategy: Strong ability to analyze training effectiveness and adapt programs to improve customer outcomes.

  • Professional Development Facilitation: Experience facilitating and running professional development sessions for teachers.

  • Managing Contractors: Experience managing contractors delivering professional development for organizations, schools, and districts.

  • LMS and Online Learning: Experience working with learning management systems (LMS) and online learning platforms, including designing and delivering content through LMS tools.

  • Professional Development Operations: Experience in professional development operations, including coordinating training logistics, managing budgets, and scaling training programs.

  • Hiring and Onboarding: Proven experience hiring, onboarding, and managing professional development contractors at scale.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Teaching Experience: Direct experience in the classroom as a teacher.

  • Training Design: Experience designing and refining professional development programs based on participant feedback and engagement data.

  • National and International Experience: Experience delivering professional development programs both nationally and internationally.

  • EdTech Industry Experience: Background in the education technology sector or working with educational platforms.

  • Customer Success Collaboration: Experience working closely with customer success teams to align training initiatives with customer needs and business goals.
