The Opportunity
Due to the ongoing growth of Netwealth, this newly created Senior Legal Counsel role is responsible for leading the transformation of the legal department into a contemporary, best practice inhouse legal team and providing legal advice to the Boards, Committees, Executive and relevant stakeholders across Netwealth.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of engaging projects, build valuable relationships with stakeholders, and contribute significantly to our legal function.
About you
With a law degree, you'll be admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor, and hold a current practising certificate. With over 5 years of experience in financial services law, preferably in-house or in private practice, you have a strong understanding of best practices in in-house legal environments and the ability to drive and implement change.
• Legal experience in the wealth or financial services industries required. Managed investment, IDPS and/or superannuation experience highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial services regulation including the Corporations Act, Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993, and the APRA Prudential Standards
• Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, including distribution and platform agreements.
• Experience supporting product governance, disclosure documentation, and regulatory change implementation.
• Ability to contribute to strategic change while managing individual matters
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including the preparation of legal advice and other documents as required and highly developed negotiation skills
• Excellent time management, communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
