Part-Time Extension Programming Site Coordinator - Main Station Field Lab (LOA)

Job Description

Are you passionate about plant growing management, community programming, and making a meaningful impact? The Washoe County Extension is seeking a dedicated and organized Programming Site Coordinator to lead our new programming site's development, maintenance, and operation at the Main Station Field Lab.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee site planning, maintenance, and management, including fencing, irrigation, pest control, and general upkeep.

  • Coordinate and support extension outdoor programming (youth to adult), ensuring a well-maintained and functional site for events and activities.

  • Maintain equipment, manage records, and enforce safety policies.

  • Serve as the primary onsite contact, ensuring smooth operations and excellent customer service.

  • Develop community partnerships and support educational programming at the site.

  • Travel within Washoe County as needed to support programming efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, natural resources, facility management, or a related field.

  • Experience in plant production, land or facility management, irrigation systems, pest control, equipment maintenance, or other closely related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Extension programs, research sites, or educational institutions.

  • Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices and land stewardship.

  • Experience with small engine equipment, tractors, and irrigation system installation.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, volunteers, and program participants.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA rules and safety regulations.

  • A valid Department of Agriculture pesticide license (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Proficiency in record-keeping, budget management, and operational reporting.

  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule depending on programming needs.

Schedule

This is a part-time position (32 hours per week) with a variable schedule based on programming needs. Some minimal travel within Washoe County is required.
