Just is seeking a motivated and creative intern who desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. This project will evaluate cell culture additives to modulate product quality in a small-scale cell culture assay in order to further our understanding of how cell culture additives impact biotherapeutic production in a high-throughput manner. This work will include making perfusion media, culturing CHO cells, and running scall-scale cell culture assays while analyzing culture health. The intern will work closely with the Media Development team to obtain data for multiple clones and cell lines. Our ideal candidate would have experience with aseptic technique and solution preparation. Strong communication and analytical skills, attention to detail, and enthusiasm to learn and apply new scientific concepts are necessary for success in this internship.
Responsibilities:
· Work with a mentor to modulate protein product quality in a small-scale cell culture assay
· Contribute as a team member to ongoing projects and shared responsibilities, including general laboratory upkeep and media support
· End of internship presentation to the scientific staff
Preferred Qualifications:
· Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program for Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or related field
· Understanding of basic chemistry and biochemistry principles
· Familiarity with common lab techniques for solution preparation
Pluses:
· Experience with mammalian aseptic technique
· Experience with buffer and solution preparation
· Experience with data analysis and visualization software (e.g. JMP, Python)
Note: This is a paid 12 week fixed-term internship located onsite at our Seattle facility. This position is open to all students legally authorized to work in the United States based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. We are not able to offer visa sponsorship, benefits or relocation for internships. The pay for this position is $25.00 per hour.
