o Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent education.
o Understanding & experience with regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, NFPA, FCC, & other Nationally Recognized Test Laboratories (NRTLs).
o Familiar with environmental directives such as REACH & RoHS.
o Experience using writing tests standard procedures & protocols & report generation.
o Use of 3D modeling software.
o Reading & interpreting test requirements, electronic & mechanical drawings.
o Responsible for making sure various products meet safety standards.
o Support the Product Platforms & Product Launch Activities by submitting regulatory paperwork & educating personnel & customers about compliance requirements.
o The Compliance Engineer will maintain product safety listings & Nationally Recognized Test Labs (NRTLs), confirm regulatory compliance to Environmental directives, & support product compliance actions required for export.
o Prevents compliance issues by collaborating with engineering & design teams; reviewing design data & material selection; identifying product design issues; identifying short-term & long-range issues; researching & identifying applicable regulatory & industry compliance standards & codes.
o Review ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) for compliance with product NRTL files & Environmental directives.
o Develops compliance plans by researching, analyzing, & selecting appropriate product safety & regulator standards. Evaluates new compliance methodologies, qualifying vendors, components, & parts.
o Assist in organizing compliance programs by preparing timetables, cost estimates, & required resources including test laboratories & equipment.
o Attains compliance by isolating & resolving non-compliance issues; recommending product & process changes; initiating engineering change orders; supporting NRLT audits.
o Documents compliance by completing approval applications; recording test results; preparing investigative reports; preparing & filing Declarations of Conformity.
o Maintains compliance database including certification markings & marketing materials to align with NRTL ratings.
o Controls access to the companies Regulatory Compliance partners, including UL gatekeeper & similar roles.
o Understands & interprets regulatory codes such as UL, NEC & NFPA.
o Some light travel may be required.
Qualified candidates will possess the following
o Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university & two to five years related experience &/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience.
o Experience with mechanical & electrical system design, & compliance is required.
o Knowledge of electrical contact design, sliding contacts, & basic electrical concepts is desirable.
o Ability to manage many concurrent projects while maintaining a high level of productivity to complete projects on time.
