Why We Have This Role

Qualtrics is growing exponentially and that growth means constantly finding and eradicating threats to our systems. We must continuously evaluate how we secure systems, identify potential threats, and implement necessary alerts and tooling to help us maintain a strong security posture at scale. We're looking for a driven and enthusiastic intern to join our Security Engineering and Security Operations and Incident Response team this summer. This internship provides hands-on experience in security operations center (SOC) analysis and the opportunity to contribute to a security engineering project.

  • Proactive, self-managed, and able to interface well with interdisciplinary teams across the organization, including executive leadership.

  • You are as comfortable on the command line as you are in a GUI, if not more so.

Things You’ll Do

Security Operations Center (SOC):

  • Assist SOC analysts in monitoring security alerts and events.
  • Participate in the initial analysis and triage of security incidents.
  • Learn to use security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
  • Contribute to the documentation of security procedures and incident response playbooks.

Security Engineering:

  • Collaborate with security engineers on a defined project related to security infrastructure, automation, or tooling.
  • Build tools and integrations to automate processes and improve our incident response.
  • Conduct research on emerging security technologies and trends.
  • Document project progress and findings.
  • Empower engineers to own the security of their products through self-service tools.
  • Serve as an engineering resource to design, deploy, and integrate security tooling, ensuring seamless handoff to operational teams.

What We’re Looking For On Your Resume

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS).
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls).
  • Basic understanding of cloud computing environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Comfortable with scripting and working in programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A strong interest in cybersecurity and a desire to learn.
