Director of Data Operations - Automation/Optimization

We’re seeking a results-driven Director of Data Operations to lead the transformation of our Product Operations teams from manual processes to automated, data-driven operations. Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, the Director will be responsible for developing and implementing automation strategies that optimize team performance while maintaining service level agreements. In this role, you will oversee global operations teams, collaborating closely with data science and data engineering departments to design and deploy innovative automation solutions that increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. 


This role offers a significant opportunity to drive organizational transformation through process optimization, technology implementation, and team development in a fast-paced, growing environment. We are seeking a forward-thinking leader who thrives in cross-functional collaboration and is passionate about leveraging data and automation to solve complex operational challenges.  This role will be based in our India Center of Excellence. 



What Your Will Do


Strategic Planning
  • Reporting to Chief Technology Officer, collaborate with executive leadership to define the automation and operational excellence vision aligned with the company’s overall strategy and goals. 
  • Develop comprehensive automation strategies that leverage AI and machine learning to transform manual processes into efficient, scalable operations. 
  • Design and implement data-driven operations frameworks that optimize resource allocation while ensuring consistent delivery against established SLAs. 
  • Analyze operational metrics and performance data to identify automation opportunities and process improvements. 
  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to align automation priorities with product roadmaps and technical capabilities. 


Operations Management
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of Product Operations teams, ensuring efficient execution of current processes while driving transition to automated workflows. 
  • Establish and maintain robust SLAs, KPIs, and performance metrics to monitor operational efficiency and team productivity. 
  • Implement change management practices to facilitate successful transition from manual to automated processes. 
  • Create and maintain documentation of operational processes, automation systems, and contingency plans. 
  • Develop resource allocation models that optimize team size and composition as automation initiatives progress. 


Technical Leadership
  • Partner with Data Science and Data Engineering teams to identify, prioritize, and implement automation solutions that align with business objectives. 
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions and tools to support automation initiatives. 
  • Ensure data quality and integrity across operational processes and automated systems. 
  • Lead proof-of-concept projects to validate automation approaches before full-scale implementation. 
  • Establish monitoring and alerting systems to ensure automated processes operate reliably and meet quality standards. 


Talent Development
  • Build and lead high-performing operations teams, creating clear career paths that evolve as automation increases. 
  • Develop training programs to upskill team members for more complex analytical and oversight roles as manual tasks become automated. 
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and data-driven decision making. 
  • Mentor team members to develop technical and leadership capabilities. 


What You Will Bring
  • 8+ years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years focused on data operations, process automation, or similar fields. 
  • 5+ years people management experience, including leading teams through significant transformation initiatives. 
  • Proven experience implementing automation solutions that successfully reduced manual effort while maintaining or improving quality and performance. 
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, automation technologies, and their practical applications in operational environments. 
  • Experience establishing and managing to service level agreements (SLAs) in operational environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, including data scientists and engineers, to translate operational needs into technical requirements. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and measure performance improvements. 
  • Experience with change management methodologies and practices to drive organizational transformation. 
  • Proficiency with project management methodologies, preferably including both Agile and traditional approaches. 
  • Knowledge of process optimization techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies. 
  • Experience with workflow automation tools, data pipeline technologies, and operations management systems. 
  • Excellence in stakeholder management and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. 
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align operational strategies with business goals and objectives. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., PMP, Agile, Six Sigma, ITIL) are a plus.
