Job Description

This is a 12 week Tool Room internship with the potential to become a full time Rockwell employee post assignment.

This will be a 1st shift position working hours of 6:00am-2:00pm Monday- Friday onsite in Milwaukee. There is some potential flexibility to this schedule if needed.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Core member of new product introduction (NPI) programs & supporting assembly fixtures, test equipment, prototype parts and production tooling.  

  • Responsible for the building of the above components in support of Business Unit’s and Operation’s strategic objectives.

  • Will work on intercompany projects of low / medium complexity and scope. May perform multiple and parallel activities across projects. Works with others on project issues to develop various resolution options.

  • Works with technical resources on inter-functional projects to achieve key factors of project success, which include project schedule, project cost, process / product quality, and transferability to manufacturing.

  • Applies problem solving skills in determining technical objectives of assignments while establishing and implementing corrective action plans where necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.

  • Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.

  • Utilize processing and design expertise to interact with internal engineers and external suppliers to resolve part design and manufacturability issues.

  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

  • Resolve complex process issues, reduce variation and deploy best practices globally.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Actively pursuing an education in Machining, Tool and Die or equivalent functional knowledge in areas of tooling, processing, part and tool design. 

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks, Creo, CAMWorks, Cimatix, CatalystEX (3D Printing-FDM), Objet Studio (3d Printing-Objet), Polyworks (Romer Arm), Design X (Romer Arm) a plus.

  • Possesses knowledge in new product development processes, manufacturing assembly environments, and associated business systems.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and ability to present technical information.

  • Actively pursuing an Associate's Degree in a field closely related to the job title
