About Shield AI     

Founded in 2015, Shield AI is a venture-backed defense technology company whose mission is to protect service members and civilians with intelligent systems. In pursuit of this mission, Shield AI is building the world’s best AI pilot. Its AI pilot, Hivemind, has flown jets (F-16; MQM-178 Firejet), a vertical takeoff and landing drone (MQ-35 V-BAT), and three quadcopters (Nova, Nova 2, iPRD). The Hivemind Foundations product manager guides the development and product roadmap for the middleware developed by Shield AI which is the foundation of all Hivemind enabled systems. As HMF Product Manager, you will set priorities for software releases based on a deep understanding of both internal engineering needs and external customer integration needs. These will be driven by direct interaction with autonomy engineers and technical directors, as well as a deep understanding of the technical landscape and both government and commercial customers.


What you'll do:
  • Develop and maintain the roadmap for Hivemind Foundations in collaboration with engineering leadership.
  • Develop product requirements based on deep understanding of customer needs.
  • Be an expert user and evangelist for your product.
  • Ensure the Hivemind Foundations product has world-class capabilities, quality, and documentation.
  • Oversee solutions to some of the most challenging foundational configuration and communication problems to multi-agent autonomy.
  • Understand the business and technical landscape that affects your product.


Required qualifications:
  • B.S. in Computer Science with 8+ years of work experience. Similar degree or equivalent practical experience acceptable. 
  • You have rock-solid fundamentals in software engineering and the software development life cycle.
  • You are an expert at balancing technical vs business risks and turning engineering output into business outcomes.
  • You are a relentless learner who can comfortably develop the specialized knowledge necessary for drive the roadmap of a highly technical product.
  • You have deep customer empathy and are highly creative at crafting technical solutions to solve customer problems.
  • You are an expert communicator for both a technical and non-technical audience


Preferred qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or MBA
  • Experience in highly technical customer facing roles
  • Expertise modern C++ and the development of middleware, communications, and/or operation systems.
  • Expert user/contributor to ROS/ROS2
  • Experience with middleware or communications for multi-agent robotics
  • Experience with unmanned air systems
  • Experience with airworthiness, functional safety, or cybersecurity


$182,000 - $273,000 a year

Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. All offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check.
