Job Description

Essential functions—essential functions, including how an individual is to perform them and the frequency with which the tasks are performed; the tasks must be part of the job function and truly necessary or required to perform the job.

 

Job duties to include but are not limited to;

  • Review of customer contracts, Statements of Work, Purchase Order Quality Clauses, drawings and specifications
  • Review and approval of quality requirements for Manufacturing Planning and Supplier Purchase Orders
  • Participate in QMS process management
  • Drive improvement
  • Analyze data to develop metrics and trends
  • Assist with establishing Root Cause of failures and defects
  • Assist with completion of customer issued Corrective Action as well as issuance and follow up of Internal CAR’s.
  • Use of technical drawings, specifications, manufacturing work instructions, inspection procedures, and configuration control of documents
  • Experience with Configuration Control Board (CCB), review of ECNs, drawings, source control specifications, test plans & reports  
  • Good working knowledge and experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)  
  • Experience with managing and performing audits, processes and practices associated with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Investigation of non-conformances and continuous improvement techniques; e.g., RCCA, 8D, 5-Why, PFMEA
  • Effectively lead and manage the day-to-day performance and tasking of people by being a role model to others, monitoring progress on objectives and behaviors and coaching others for success
  • Making decisions independently related to quality issues
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
  • Significant experience in lieu of a degree considered

Required/Preferred:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred
  • Quality engineering experience in an ISO-9001 environment required
  • Experience in First Article Inspection (FAI) required
  • Experience working in a union environment preferred

Years of Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Salary and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,485 - $154,182/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions. Smiths Detection provides comprehensive benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave and an employee assistance program.
