Position Overview


SpryPoint is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer with 2-5 years of experience to join our team. As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation, including user guides and release notes. Your role will be critical in ensuring our customers can effectively utilize our products and stay informed about new features and updates.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Documentation: Create, update, and manage user guides, release notes, and other technical documentation to support SpryPoint’s product offerings.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with product managers, developers, and customer support teams to gather information and understand the intricacies of our products.
  • Translate Technical Information: Convert complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand content for end-users with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Ensure Accuracy and Consistency: Ensure that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and consistent with SpryPoint’s style and branding guidelines.
  • Review and Edit Content: Review and edit documentation created by other team members to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to the company’s standards.
  • Maintain Documentation Standards: Establish and maintain templates, guidelines, and best practices for technical documentation.
  • User Feedback Integration: Collect and incorporate feedback from users and stakeholders to continuously improve documentation quality and relevance.


Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a software or technology-related environment. Experience with Customer Information Systems, Work and Asset Management, or Customer Self-Serve applications would be beneficial. Experience in the Utilities Industry is helpful, but not required. 
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of software development processes and ability to comprehend technical concepts quickly.
  • Writing Skills: Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Tools: Proficiency with documentation tools such as GoogleDocs, Snagit, Microsoft Word, or similar software.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field is desirable, however, equivalent real-world experience with technical writing for a software company is also welcome. 
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Agile Methodology: Familiarity with Agile development practices and experience in writing documentation in an Agile environment.
  • Graphic Design Skills: Basic knowledge of graphic design tools to create visuals or diagrams that enhance documentation would be nice to have.

👋 Stage 1: 30-minutes Recruiter Interview

🧑‍💻 Stage 2: Take Home Assignment

You will be given a fictional case study to demonstrate your technical writing skills, with a focus on SaaS products. This will help us understand your abilities and approach to technical writing within our context.


👥 Stage 3: 1-hour Interview


You’ll start with a 15-minute presentation of your assessment to Shelley, our Senior Manager of Client Success, and Mel, our Documentation Lead. The rest of the time will be dedicated to discussing your experience and answering questions. This is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and discuss your approach to technical writing practices.



👥 Stage 4: 30-minute Final Interview

You’ll meet with Mark, our Senior Team Lead of Client Success. This session will also give you a glimpse into our collaborative culture and teamwork, helping you see how well you might fit into our team.


🚀 Stage 5: References/Offer

We'll check your references to confirm all the great things we've learned about you. If all goes well, we’ll be thrilled to extend an offer and welcome you to the team!
