SUMMARY:
Under the direction of a licensed staff member, assist the library specialist by maintaining media equipment and the resource room, performing associated clerical tasks, preparing instructional materials, and working in small groups with students. Depending on the site, may supervise the Library Para-Educator or report to the Librarian.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide academic curriculum support by preparing media center displays, bulletin boards, charts, and other visual aids for classroom use. Schedule media equipment usage, repair, inventory, maintenance, and ordering of related supplies for classroom use. [Daily, 30%]
2. Maintain media center books, periodicals, and database collections, including taking inventory, checking-out/in media materials, overdue notices, book orders, book repairs, interlibrary loan requests, vertical file materials, and other circulation desk responsibilities. [Daily, 25%]
3. Assist students with curriculum reinforcement to both individuals and small groups to ensure mastering of computers, research, and reports. [Daily, 20%]
4. Assist with supervision of students and parent volunteers in the media center. [Daily, 10%]
5. Perform basic clerical work such as typing, stapling, filing, duplicating, and taking inventory. [Daily, 10%]
6. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. One (1) year of related experience.
3. Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
4. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
5. Basic knowledge of media equipment.
6. Intermediate English language skills.
7.Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
8. Advanced interpersonal relations skills.
9. Advanced organizational skills.
10. Ability to work alone and with others.
11. Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
13. Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
1. Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
2. One (1) year of related experience.
3. Candidate selected for hire must provide proof of Title I Qualified status to Human Resources within 60 working days from hire.
